If you would like to pray for Jared, our new born son, Laura, Caryn (our daughter), and I would appreciate it very much.
Yesterday, we took Jared to see the doctor because of a small cough that he had for a day. As it turned out, Jared has RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) and has been hospitalized since then. At first it appeared to be very critical (which brought back memories of our first son dying) but Jared is now considered to be in good and stable condition. He will not be allowed to leave the hospital until the virus is gone, so we have no idea how long his hospital stay will be.
There is a phrase that occurs several times in the Psalms that says something to the effect of “In my distress, I cried out to the Lord and the Lord heard me…” We don’t know why times of distress, whatever they may be, come in life. We do take comfort that God hears our cries in times of distress and is with us in such times.
Many prayers have already been lifted up to God on behalf of Jared. We are thankful for each and everyone of these. We are also thankful for the improving health of Jared as we know all to well that the outcome could be much different and with much more grief and sorrow.

I thought I would share the wonderful news with you all. On Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 8:54 am, Laura gave birth to Jared Stone Butts. Jared measured in at 19 inches long and weighed 8.5 lbs. Some say he looks just like me…what a handsome baby he then must be:-).
All kidding aside, Jared is healthy and Laura, who had a C-section, is recovering well from the surgery which went well and according to the doctors plans. Laura and Jared will probably be in the hospital until sometime Friday but possibly Saturday.
Caryn is already enjoying the role of big sister and has been a big help thus far. Not only has she already held Jared (with a little assistance) but she also is right there to hand us the diaper and wipe(s) as we need them to change Jared.
We never forget our Son, Kenny but we believe he is in the hands of our loving God whom we praise for the blessing of all three of our children. Holding your own child for the first time is one of those priceless experiences that I wish there was adequate words to capture the joy. Unfortunately, after three children I still have no words describe that joy. Those of you who have children understand the joy we feel. Those of you expecting children, I thank God for the joy you will be brought in the near future. Those of you who want children, I pray that God will bless you in that desire.

Today at 8:54 am my wife Laura gave birth to our 3rd child, a baby boy named Jared Stone Butts. At birth Jared weighed 8.5 lbs and measured in at 19 inches long. I will try to have pictures in the near future. We are praising God for this blessing.

If all goes as planned, my wife will deliver our 3rd child (a boy) by C-section on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York. We are excited! Pray for us!
